Poem by Lesley
Hi and welcome to my poetry Blog. Here's my first entry. If you have any suggestions how it could be improved let me know:
Cretan Idyll
Adrift on a cushion of air I float
The Cretan sunshine warming my skin
I feel as insignificant as a paper boat
Bobbing across the sea’s green rim.
Underneath my transparent bed, a rainbow
Of fish swim silently by, turning on a whim
With a luminous flicker, they swim
Slicing the clear water with their sharp fins.
I’m frozen in time; look up now and I
Might see Icarus in a dazzling flash with wings
Ablaze, falling headlong from the sky
Or Aphrodite rising from the waves.
For here is where the past and present meet;
A timeless place where one can feel complete.
